HOW TO GROW RED CHILI PEPPER PLANTS WITH SEEDS AT HOME:
Here are the steps you could use to grow your plants at home. They are easy to begin with and fun.
1) Take a chili of which plant you are looking forward to grow. Cut it from down to avoid any seed damage therein. Softly remove the seeds from it using knife.
Note: Please wear gloves and use knife to remove seeds and wash your hands nicely after it is done to avoid any trouble caused by the chilies.
2) Collect all the seeds in a dish and reject seeds which look damage, weak or abnormal.
(Some people soak seeds overnight or for 8 hours or so though it is not much required as you results even without doing that)
See whether they are neat and clean and no other things are stuck on it inorder to avoid any barriers while sprouting them
3) It is always recommended to start plantation from small containers transplanting them to big as per their progress, specially in case where you want to grow plants from seeds. Some reasons behind this method are the plant gets shock and they grow more, they get more soil and more nutrients, they get that much room as much they required as too much room in the container will lead them focus only on rooting and not grow upwards.
4) Fill the container with soil, always use potting mix for the nice results. Generally at this stage, seedling tray or disposable plastic cups are recommended for starting it with very economic and easy availability. Fill them not too much rather just 3/4th of it.
REMEMBER: Your container, be it any, must have holes below it for drainage.
5) Place the seeds in each container. If the container is large, you may place 4-5 in one. Incase of cups, place 2-3 in each of them.
6) Always label your container with name and date for better remembering and monitoring each of them. After you placed your seeds, push them down in the soil just a half inch and not too much. cover the hole with soil and gently press it. Not too hard, just be gentle.
7) To keep the soil moist, instead of pouring water from above the container, there is very good method of self-watering by placing another identical container or a bit larger container below it (this one should be without holes below) containing a bit water. By this, the soil absorbs as much water as it requires.
8) How much should we water at this stage? Well, after you water the first time, let the soil get dry and when it does, fill the second container (without holes) again only till the level the holes could get covered with it.
9) At this stage, the seeds do not need much water and sunlight. The soil just need to be moist and warm for the seeds to sprout. Over-water could spoil it.
10) You should see the results in 5-6 days depending upon the type of chili you are growing and the temperature around it.
